  • Five of Cups & Scorpio Season (Oct. 2025)

Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall Greetings Friends, For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the days are getting shorter and the air is getting cooler. The sweaters are coming out and the candles are being lit. As the darkness returns, so the veil thins and we are invited once again to feel the unseen. Welcome to Scorpio Season.   The first decan of Scorpio relates to the Five of Cups in the tarot, a card that evokes a sense of loss. In the simplest terms, the loss is evident in the darkening days and the falling leaves. The last of the summer's harvest being reaped as we prepare once again for winter. It's a time full of beauty and completion when we allow the process to unfold. In readings though, this energy can be met with great disappointment. It often points to a loss that we did not want or choose. Like Scorpio, it's an archetype steeped in emotion and inevitability, but also rebirth.    In her rich, fantastical style, artist Karen Kuykendall depicts this archetype with warmth and possibility in her deck  Tarot of the Cat People. While the couple, and their cat!, appear bereft at their empty cups, there is a wide open window behind them letting in the light. This signals the dawning of the new after the loss of the familiar, whenever we are ready to face it.  When this card appears in readings, I encourage people to allow room for all their feelings. Grieving is a wise and necessary process in the face of loss and heartache. Bypassing grief does not make it go away but rather compounds the energy in ways that can be harmful. Like Scorpio, the cups suit relates to water, and this card invites us to let all of our emotional waters flow. Then trust that once the rains have passed, there will be new growth to nourish us. So however you relate to the season, remember that the light is always there, even when we must look inside to find it. with love and all the feelings, Lisa

  • Two of Swords & Libra Season (September 2025)

Rainbow Tarot by So Lazo Greetings Friends, Welcome to the soul party, where you are the guest of honor. So put on your finest attire, and your freshest face, as we enter into the sign of peace, beauty and equilibrium. Welcome to Libra Season. The first decan of Libra relates to the Two of Swords in the tarot, a card symbolizing a moment to pause, look inward, and find inner peace around an external situation. I had the joy of doing a reading for a friend recently where this card was front and center. In their signature colorful style, the artist So Lazo depicts this archetype in their Rainbow Tarot deck with levity and play, adorning her with polka dots and a party hat! This is a refreshing take on a card that often evokes stalemates and disconnection. But here, Two of Swords is dressed for fun, reminding us that putting up healthy boundaries and returning to the wisdom of one's heart can be a blast. From the outside, the image may seem steely, but at her back is the power of the moon, the ocean and a flame-like tree. It is a magical backdrop, fit for a celestial reunion. The imagery also evokes the message of Venus, Libra's ruler. That when the mind fails to find balance with the outside world, we can always return to the realm of feeling, the realm of the heart. It's here where we are welcomed with open arms to the party of our soul, the party of peace, where the good vibes never end. So when we are ready to drop our swords, take off our blindfold and return to our external surroundings, we will do so refreshed, revitalized and clear-eyed. with love and equilibrium, Lisa

  • Eight of Pentacles & Virgo Season (August 2025)

Anima Mundi Tarot by Megan Wyreweden Greetings Friends,  Ready for some alone time? Ready to tune out the distractions and listen to the quiet voice from within? It's Virgo season and we are not meant to be disturbed. We have work to do.    The first decan of Virgo relates to the Eight of Pentacles in the tarot, a card symbolizing a time of transformation through devoting oneself to their work, not as a form of self-sacrifice but as an act of service.    I reference Megan Wyreweden's  Anima Mundi Tarot often because the archetypes are so clearly reflected in the natural world. But also, because the art is so beautiful, and beauty is a hallmark of Virgo's craft. Above, we see two North America Beavers making a dam that will serve as both a lodge and food storage, as they prepare for the fall. While building a dam may not be a glamorous process, there is beauty in the commitment and result. So let the energy of Eight of Pentacles inspire you this Virgo Season as you take stock of what is needed for the last months of the year. For some, this is a time of harvesting, for other's, it's a time of release. Either way, the season invites you to focus on what matters most and how to best build a life that nourishes and supports it. Sending you love, focus, devotion, and some goddamn peace and quiet.  Happy Virgo Season, Lisa

  • Five of Wands & Leo Season (July 2025)

Megan Lynn Kott's Cat Tarot Greetings Friends, The season of the cat has arrived!  This month, take a note from our feline kin about self care. Lay in the sun when you want to, take a bath, swat away whatever is getting in your personal space. Make the weirdest things into a game. It's Leo Season, and you deserve to enjoy it! The first decan of Leo relates to the Five of Wands in the tarot, a card that can evoke both fiery chaos and wildly good times (have you met a Leo?). In readings, the Five of Wands often represents a situation where the landscape is being remade, whether through creating a new work of art or  competing to see who has the most toys (in some decks, Five of Wands is depicted as a volcano)! In Megan Lynn Kott's delightfully playful Cat Tarot,  we see two kittens playing with a pile of toys. It's fun, it's chaotic -  is it too many toys? Is it just the right amount? Are they playing or are they fighting? Is someone gonna get bit?! These are all fair questions with Five of Wands energy, which can be overwhelming. So let this be a reminder to be kind to yourself through the fiery transformations in your life, something heart-led Leo's know a lot about. If the heat gets to be too much, take a break and have a cat nap. When it comes to creativity, sometimes surrendering to the process is the only way forward. With love and warmth, Lisa

  • Two of Cups & Cancer Season (June 2025)

Anima Mundi Tarot by Megan Wyreweden Greetings Friends, Let's get cozy. Find you favorite blanket, socks or spot on the beach. If you're near the ocean, let it's music wash over you. And if you're not, you can go there in your mind. It's Cancer season and our emotional waters are calling us home.  The first decan of Cancer relates to the Two of Cups in the tarot, a card about kindred spirits. In readings, the Two of Cups often represents a relationship where we feel deeply seen and cared for. These are the duo's that finish each other's sentences, if they have to speak at all, and reflect back the magic to each other that they may not always see in themselves. This card can also come up around inner child work, acknowledging that the innocent, playful part of us is feeling safe enough to come out of hiding.  In Megan Wyreweden's nature deck, Anima Mundi Tarot, we see a pair of seahorses vibing at the ocean floor. Seahorses are known to mate for life and use their powerful tails to anchor to seagrass and coral so that they don't get carried away in the current. This is a nice way to think about Cancer season, a time when we may feel extra tender and desire nothing more than a chill out room and the company of our soul family. So whatever currents this season brings, be sure to allow yourself a similar refuge, either with friends, family, or quiet time in nature where your inner child can come to the surface and play. With love and sensitivity, Lisa

  • The Five of Pentacles & Taurus Season (April 2025)

Rainbow Tarot by So Lazo Greeings Friends, I invite you to go outside, take off your shoes and let your feet meet the Earth,  now breathe.... feel better? Welcome to Taurus Season. The first decan of Taurus relates to the Five of Pentacles, the "have faith" card amidst material contraction. For many of us, April is a time of taxes, tariff's and financial anxiety. In readings, this card shows up as a reflection of the fear of material loss or scarcity. As earthly beings, these fears are not new, they have been hard-wired into our nervous systems over millennia, and are highlighted during times of illness, extreme wealth disparity and economic uncertainty.   In So Lazo's rich and vibrant deck, Rainbow Tarot, we see two weary travelers in the foreground, looking for shelter. Behind them are five gold rimmed pentacles blooming amidst a chilly landscape. This image illustrates the wisdom, and challenge, of the card. When it comes up in a reading, we are invited to see the temporary quality of our situation and the lasting support of our soul.  This brings up the paradox of Taurean energy, ruled by Venus, the planet of love and connection. It calls us to remember that the earthly plane is animated by spirit, that each flower, tree, and stretch of dirt, is in fact a portal to sacred presence and spiritual riches. It is the reminder that embodiment is the path to transcendence. Like the two weary travelers, we are invited to turn to the nourishing support that is available in every moment, to take a pause, plant our feet and reconnect to the shelter of our soul.  With love and earthly connection,  Lisa

  • The Eight of Swords & Gemini Season (May 2025)

The Mushroom Tarot by Chris Adams Greetings Friends, Ever feel like if you don't turn it into a joke it will destroy you? Welcome to Gemini Season! After grounding into our being with Taurus, we return to the least boring time of the year. It is the season of the magician, the messenger, of our most fun friend, the one who urges us to learn new things, spill the tea and laugh in the face of the void.  The first decan of Gemini relates to the Eight of Swords in the tarot, a card about the transformation of the mind. In readings, this card reflects the feeling of being trapped in a situation with no way out, the tide rising at our feet. In Chris Adams' delectably playful deck The Mushroom Tarot,  we see the swords reimagined as eight Psilocybe mushrooms surrounding a dead tree submerged in water. In the distance stands a ridge line with healthy trees against a backdrop of sparkling stars. It's all in your head, this card teases, breaking the spell of helplessness and nudging us to form a new trail. Part of the magic of Psilocybe mushrooms is that they form new neural pathways in the brain, allowing us to gain an understanding that we were previously blind to. This is why they are called the "Golden Teachers" and "Holy Children," as they reveal to us the answers within. Like Gemini, they are the great connectors, exemplifying the power of a curious mind, a good joke and an unexpected path, when avoiding destruction. With love and new pathways,  Lisa

  • Two of Wands & Aries Season (March 2025)

Anima Mundi Tarot by Megan Wyreweden Greetings Friends! Happy Equinox & Astrological New Year! For those in the Northern Hemisphere, we are witnessing life break through the earth in all of it's colors. After surrendering to the mystery in Pisces season, we are launched back into the world, renewed and revitalized, with the sign of Aries.  The first decan of Aries relates to the Two of Wands, the suit of fire and creativity. In readings, this card is a sign of hatching plans for the future, often with a partner or spiritual friend. When the Two of Wands arrives, it's clear that the dreaming stage has ended and it's time for decisive action, which is what Aries Season is all about! In Megan Wyreweden's gorgeously earthy deck  Anima Mundi Tarot , we see two wands blossoming with flowers in the foreground. While this card is often depicted with a solar landscape, the wash of stars reminds us that we are just coming out of dream time, and that a big part of this card, and this season, is about getting our bearings.  Are we moving forward -  YES! Are we growing - YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! But we are doing so on fresh legs, aching from hibernation, ready to stretch. We can take a lesson from the Equinox here, and balance our desire for action with our need for restoration. As the saying goes, nature doesn't rush, and yet all is accomplished.  With love and spiritual blooming - Happy Aries Season! Lisa

  • Finding Hope with The Star in Aquarius Season (January 2024)

The Star card from Megan Wyreweden's tarot deck "Anima Mundi" Greetings Friends, Happy New Year! Congratulations on another collective circle around the sun! After reclaiming our power in Capricorn season, we open ourselves to connection with The Star. In the Tarot, The Star is associated with Aquarius, the sign that heals the masses by staying true to its unique vision. In readings, The Star is a welcome sight. A symbol of hope, clarity and renewed light after the darkest of times. Though the hope offered by The Star is not that of the ego's desires being met, but rather a calming sense of serenity in the present. Like a sparkling starlit night, The Star inspires the sense that there is some kind of divine cosmic plan. And while we may not understand it, we can trust that we're not only involved, but essential. In Megan Wyreweden's nature deck,  Anima Mundi, we see the figure of the sacred Ibis basking in the light of the stars. In ancient Egypt, the Ibis was associated with the God Thoth, the deity of divine justice and knowledge. In practical terms, the Ibis is a resilient creature, who can easily use it's distinctly long beak to sift through muddy situations and find the nourishment they need. The energy of Aquarius is often characterized as that of an outsider, capable of viewing a situation from a uniquely wide lens. When aligning this viewpoint in service of healthy connection and equanimity, Aquarian energy allows for the greatest of humanitarians. Like the stars in the sky, this season reminds us of the healing power of our vast and shining interconnection. But only when we allow ourselves the perspective and presence to receive it.   With love and starlight,  Lisa

  • Reflecting on the Moon in Pisces Season (Feb. 2024)

The Moon Card from Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitant Greetings Friends, Welcome to the last astrological season of the year! After basking in the light of The Star, we reflect on the power of The Moon. In the Tarot, The Moon is associated with Pisces, the sign that serves the collective through feeling it all and letting things flow. In readings, The Moon signals us to give the analytical mind a rest and feel our way forward. Whether we do this through music, poetry or howling at the moon. This is the season to let ourselves be wild.  In her vibrant, fantastical deck, Tarot of the Divine, Yoshi Yoshitani interprets the tarot through the lens of folklore from around the world. In The Moon card, she pictures Princess Kaguya, the Shining One, with two tanukis (shape-shifters), on either side. One tanuki looks up at the moon, while the other looks at its reflection in the water. But which one is real? And why does it matter?  The Moon calls us to experience life without fear or needing to know. In order to flow with the mystery, we can surrender the question of what it all means  for the the sensation of how it all feels. Thus letting our tender, intuitive wisdom take the lead.  With love and sweet surrender,  Lisa

  • Pisces Season and Eight of Cups (Feb. 2025)

The Fountain Tarot, Andi Todaro Greetings Friends,  Welcome to the liminal, lunar, mystical ocean of dreams and inner vision. The water is fine, it simply goes on forever... welcome to Pisces Season. After the upheavals and reckoning of Aquarius, the return to our inner waters can be a relief, if we allow it. While Pisces is the sign known for suffering, it's also the sign of transcendence and  awakening to the bigger dream for our lives and the collective. The first decan of Pisces is related to the Eight of Cups, also known as the "break-up card" of the tarot. In readings, this card surfaces when it's time to walk away from the familiar and move toward the unknown. The eight cups represent relationships or experiences that we've poured our hearts into and yet, we've outgrown. This is one of the most painful cards in the deck, even when we know it's time to move on, because we invested so much into what we're leaving. But the beauty of this card, and the wisdom of Pisces, is that nothing is ever truly lost, only transformed so we can understand it from a new perspective. In Andi Todaro's interpretation from The Fountain Tarot , we see the figure overlapping with the cups, as if they were one and the same, while facing layers of a distant horizon. The dream-like liminality of this image hints at what Pisces embodies, our multi-dimensional one-ness, our ability to surrender ourselves to the unknown with radical faith and compassion. Pisces is the last of the zodiac signs, the place where we learn how to accept endings, not as losses to be mourned, but opportunities to transcend time itself and feel into the greater mystery of our being. With love and sweet surrender, Lisa

  • Five of Swords & Aquarius Season (Jan. 2025)

Tarot for the Divine, by Yoshi Yoshitani "We must love the truth, not because it favors us, but because it is the truth." ~Mac Wellman  Greetings Friends,  I think of this quote often, especially during what feel like "unfavorable" times. The sentiment seems Aquarian to me in it's equanimity and invitation to see the big picture. It's also good advice in the face of Five of Swords, the card associated with the beginning of Aquarius Season. In readings, the Five of Swords is a sign of a bitter defeat. It marks a pain point for the swords suit, the suit of the mind, leaving us questioning everything. In Yoshi Yoshitani's mythological deck Tarot for the Divine, the victor is depicted as the ancient Egyptian God of chaos Set. In the foreground we see the grieving Goddess Isis whose partner Osiris was killed at Set's hand. Later in the myth, Isis transforms into a falcon to collect the dismembered body of her love and restore the natural order. But in this scene, the loss is fresh. There's often an element of deceit with this card, a trick that was played on us or we played on ourselves. But Five of Swords compels us not to fall victim to stories of inferiority or blame. The real wisdom of this card is to acknowledge where things went wrong, and how, like Isis, we can piece ourselves back together again. Aquarians are the problem solvers of the zodiac, able to make connections that others can't see.  They are also the humanitarians. This is no coincidence. At its best, Aquarian energy opens us to our true interconnected nature and shows us how to care for each other, and the Earth, on a massive scale. At it's worst, it dehumanizes us for industrial gain. Knowing this at the onset of the season helps us connect to the deeper truth of our being, the fact that we belong to each other and that if one of us is hoarding resources, swords or otherwise, we all lose. It's this truth that is worth loving and remembering, and it's this truth that will set us free.  With love and equanimity, Lisa
